Restorative Culture Conference
at Earthaven Ecovillage | Black Mountain, NC
– a new paradigm in sustainable community –
One of the tenets of the Restorative Circles movement is that we are all responsible for how things go—whether in a Circles process itself or in a larger event like this Conference. In both situations, there are costs and contributions that many people must take on.
To be as co-responsible as possible, participants are asked to consider the benefits and gains they receive during the conference before deciding on what they will contribute. Most of the staff and presenters at the Conference are part of this co-responsibility initiative. Toward the end of the Conference, the costs for covering expenses, such as promotional costs, presenters’ travel and up-to-the-minute staff time, will be announced in conjunction with the number of participants. Everyone will then be invited to be as generous as they are able so that these events may continue in good faith and a new paradigm of co-responsibility can keep evolving.
Contributions can be made in advance, however, and then added to during—and up to the last day of—the Conference. In fact, to help with up-front expenses, we calculated what we think is an affordable, low-end suggestion for advance donations, for those who wish to help kick-start the event. See the registration page for details.
Everyone's encouraged to give what they can, before and during the Conference, and to feel good about it no matter the amount!
IN OTHER WORDS:
"...Fascinating, challenging, helpful, visionary...it gave me encouragement to stay engaged with social and community change. This offered a refreshing difference with ideas such as RC [Restorative Circles], "money piles", redirecting tax dollars of a community and the mind-shifting underlying foundations that create all these ideas. I'm moved. My way of "status quo" hopefully will not survive. Thank you so much for making this event happen..."
