This 9-day course covers about 2/3 of the required curriculum for a Permaculture Design Certificate. Classes include: Soil Health, Water Catchment & Use, Forests & Trees, Animals, Alternative Energy, Economics, Ecosystems, Microclimates, Natural building, Aquaponics, Mapping & Landscape Design, Urban Strategies, and hands-on experience in implementing Permaculture Design. A Design Practicum, which completes the requirements for certification, may be offered in the fall.
THE FOREST GARDEN (JUN 22) $15 - $25

Growing tree crops with vegetables and animals, in layers from the sunny edges to the flickering light of the forest floor: the forest garden is the basic pattern for sustainable human food production. This class is an introduction to the Permaculture principles underlying forest garden design and the history, both ancient and modern, of forest garden design efforts, plus walkabouts in two developing forest gardens.

Sociocracy/DG is both a governance and decision-making method that helps a group manage itself effectively and efficiently while incorporating the wisdom of every member. Thisintroductory workshop shows how to enhance and use ideas, inspiration, and influence to participate effectively in self-governance and decision-making. You will learn how to use the five basic methods of Sociocracy/DG in your own organization. The purpose of Sociocracy/DG is harmonious organizations, based on the values of transparency, equivalency, and effectiveness.

A brief overview of consensus decision-making as a tool for making group decisions, aimed at the Participant in the process, and with specific hints on meeting process, facilitation, agenda planning, minuting, and testing for consensus.
